MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (WCHS) — Students at Marshall University pursuing a career in aviation can now have hands-on learning experiences at a new location while completing their degree.
The university expanded its professional pilot bachelor’s degree program to the Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport in the Martinsburg area beginning this fall. Aspiring pilots are able to complete their academic studies through a flexible hybrid approach, according to a news release from the university.
The news release said the program focuses on four highlights:
Expertise and experience: Developed by aviation specialist Bill Noe, an esteemed Marshall alumnus with decades of industry experience, our program ensures a solid foundation in aeronautics, navigation, flight control and communication systems.
High-Demand field: Due to increasing demand for air travel, there will be a significant need for commercial pilots over the next 20 years.
High return on investment for graduates: National data shows that professional pilots enjoy an estimated return on educational investment of 55 times, surpassing other specialized professions.
Endless opportunities: A bachelor’s degree opens doors beyond piloting, including management and teaching roles within the aviation field.
Marshall’s Bill Noe Flight School is a Federal Aviation Administration-approved ground and flight training course offered at two other locations- Yeager International Airport and Wheeling-Ohio County Airport.
