WEST VIRGINIA (WCHS) — In honor of West Virginia’s 161st birthday, state officials have launched a summer social media challenge with a chance to win a free Mountain State getaway.
Participants who complete the bucket list and post their adventures on social media using #AlmostHeaven by Aug. 15 are eligible to win a free four-night, five-day vacation in the Mountain State this fall, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
The summer bucket list highlights 10 activities aimed at boosting tourism during the summer months:
Chase waterfalls
Take a road trip
Enjoy a natural wonder
Dine at a local restaurant
Plan an overnight adventure
Try a water excursion
Visit a park or public land
Explore a mountain town
Take a picture on an Almost Heaven swing
Go for a hike
“We are fortunate to be able to call this magnificent place home,” Gov. Jim Justice said in the news release. “There’s no better time to explore it and show the world the beauty of the Mountain State.”
West Virginia officials said similar social media birthday campaigns have boosted tourism and travel for the state in recent years.
To be eligible to win, participants should plan and check off all 10 bucket list items, share their adventure updates on social media with #AlmostHeaven and visit the state’s tourism website once you’ve completed the challenge.
